Story

Hi there. I’m Sam and I’m an avid walker, trekker and mountaineer. Three years ago, my best friend Daniel contracted terminal meningitis and passed away. His death left me completely devastated and for the last three years I have remembered him by slowly ticking things of his bucket list. So far, I’ve learned to snowboard, volunteered with a variety of charities and learned a few magic tricks. While this was an awesome way to personally remember Daniel, I thought it was time to do something from my own background and share it with the world: I decided to go on a pilgrimage. Now I’m not a particularly religious chap (although we all do a little prayer in exam season etc) and I really liked the sound of this challenge: 791km from St-Jean-Pied-de-Port in southwestern France to Santiago de Compostela, in the far west of Spain. I’m completing the trek in memory of Daniel, and it would be fantastic to raise some money for Meningitis Now to help them support others who have loved ones taken from them by this terrible disease. Please donate whatever you can, I’ve set a target of £791 - a pound for every kilometre (with Brexit soon to be around €4). Thank you so much! Gracias! P.S. any spelling errors are entirely my fault and anyone takes offence to my spelling of either French of Spanish words - sorry!
